I found this article by my favorite Karen Armstrong on the Guardian. Please do read it.
We cannot afford to maintain these ancient prejudices against Islam
The Pope's remarks were dangerous, and will convince many more Muslims that the west is incurably Islamophobic

That would be the best article I have read in a long time, Ms. Armestrong represents the voice of sanity and objectiveness in the west media for sure.
ReplyDeleteToo bad those "ancient prejudices" are largely true. The Muslims have done a better job pointing out their own violent nature by attacking churches (many of them not even Catholic), murdering an Iraqi Christian (probably not a Catholic), and murdering a nun in Somalia the past few days, than the pope ever did by quoting any Byzantine emperor. This is just like the Danish cartoons all over again.
ReplyDeleteIn fact, if the Muslim world had brushed this story off, it would have been a nonstory. There was no great interest in the Pope's lecture aside from the Muslims making hay about it.
Thanks Islam, now we know what you are really about.
-oh shut up anonymous-are you like stupid or something?!-soorry stupid question- you are f'ing stupid!! if your gonna sit and be petty and count ever 'dead non-muslim/happened to be christine' killed by what happened to be a 'muslim person' then i guess i'll have to be petty enough to piont out to you to also try and remember to sit and count all the dead 'people'- muslim and non-muslim -that both george bush and tony blair had a hand in killing by letting out their troops (who also inadvertently got killed in the process-becuase of their stupid presidents/priministers)and supporting countrys like isreal during conflicts such as in afghanistan, iraq, lebanon and who knows what other wars they believe they have a right to fight in in the future!!!
ReplyDelete-the popes speech was far from inconsequential-even acadmics have a problem trying to decipher what his underlying reasons where to use such quotations- ofcourse ordinary people may take it the wong way -(as you yourself have proven to them by uderstanding the muslim faith as violent) and they would be quite possibly be right in understanding his speech as being rather provocative and aimed at the muslim faith in a not so rosey a ligth!...anyway stop wasting yours and more importantly our time - with your analytical bullshit...try something a little simplier...
You have to look no further than the daily news / history to see that Muslim-on-Muslim violence far outstrips any violense done by ANY occupying army, of any nation, at any time in history.
ReplyDeleteWhen Muslim start to act civilized then the West will change its views.
