Night-Eating Syndrome

I was in a coffee-shop the other day, with some friends, picked up Couples (it was the only magazine provided) and found that there is something called Night-Eating Syndrome (NES). After reading about it, I have diagnosed myself with this eating disorder. So what is it?
If you're spending more time each night in the kitchen than in the bedroom, you may have a newly identified eating disorder. Called night-eating syndrome (NES), the condition ischaracterizedd by a lack of appetite for breakfast; the consumption of more than 50 percent of daily calories after the evening meal, and waking up, at least, once a night to consume high-carbohydrate snacks.
So I dont' wake up to eat, bas I do never have breakfast-never feel hungry when I first wake up-and I usually only feel hungry in the evening, which is when I start wishing and dreaming of all the food that I have not eaten all day. It is a bit creepy to think that I might have an eating-disorder, and I really do have to research this thing a bit more, I realise that a lot of people don't eat in the morning, and eat later, bas the fact that I only get hungry at night is odd. I mean I can drink coffee smoke a ciggie and I will no longer feel like eating anything. I am not sure if I should blame my parents for this-since in most of these cases parents can be blamed-just kidding.
Bas I really think that it is kind of scary to think that I might have an eating disorder, I have had friends who were Bulimic and it was worrying to see them go through that, and then helping them get over it was tough, for it makes you reassess all sorts of things, from ones own eating habits, to how society makes one feel. I am not sure how NES can be blamed on society, bas it must mean something that I only feel comfortable eating at home, and at night.

Do You Have Night-eating Syndrome?

* You eat 50 percent or more of your daily food intake after dinner
* You have no appetite for breakfast
* You have trouble falling and/or staying asleep
* When you wake up during the night you often eat
* The foods you eat at night are mostly carbohydrates

If you have any combination of these signs, consult your doctor.

i struggled with an eating disorder for about 2 years, looking back at it, its not at all the way that society makes you feel, its just about being in control.

an eating disorder is alot more complicated than how society views us, its not about what we expect others to see us as, its about the way you view yourself, Your desperate need to love the way you look, and to control how you feel.

NES is different its the way your body reacts to your eating disorder, it starts calling for energy, during my bulemic phase, i would often wake up in the middle of the night NEEDING some sugar. and struggeling to go back to sleep after it, when you finally give up and eat it, you notice your body feeling satisfied after a couple of hours, even calm... same thing with any type of food that your body misses, potassium, calcium and vitamins, that your body is craving for. your body is much smarter than you think it is... it reacts

carbohydrates is the main thing because you use it for energy, so your sub concious mind starts worrying that you wont have the energy to function... therefor sends signals to your brains calling for sugar. so i say if you have this... you may be eating wrong, its not only about when you eat its about what you eat...

that includes your daily input for fat, carbohydrates...etc.

my advice, if you have an eating disorder... talk to your friends about it, they may not take you seriously ... and they probably wont do anything to help you, but your doctor is not the only person, talk to poeple who you spend most of your time with, tehy are the only ones who notice the pattern, they'll tell you not to eat when your over doing it, and help you with your weight maintenance,

Three years after overcoming it i still feel the urge to throw up the food i eat when i eat too much... i still do it sometimes, when i;m feeling unattractive, or when i do something i;m not proud of. it comes with the feeling of guilt.

people dont understand bulemia or anorexia, they might force you to eat, and that will only make you want to stop doing it even more... what you need to realise is that you have to go into a routine, eat when you need it, eat healthy... but do eat, cause these night cravings only become worse, and your self hatred only goes away, when you know how to control your weight the right way.

Bala habal Lulu, its just another marketing, corporate scheme in the US. They just create diseases and syndromes for material reasons. They wanna sell their drugs and create demand. I do acknowledge the fact that Bulimia and Aneroxia are psychological diseases, but come on having a prodigous appetite at night and just loving carbs doesnt make you ill!!!
